When we share a meal with others it is the time when we share our stories and experiences, ask questions and find answers to our challenges. The time we spend around the table bring us closer together.
A shared meal creates a closer bond between friends, family and people we meet for the first time. Food shared together creates deep and lasting connections and boundaries disappear around the table. We share, cry, laugh, love and sing together. We all may have fond memories about the food we had in our childhood and memories good and bad of those times. in times of distress we quickly think about our favourite comfort food.
It is time to act, the crisis of humanity which we see at the moment is something we simply can't deny anymore. So I took action and with my background as a chef and entrepreneur I have been in the Calais camp twice now. First to set up a kitchen which is now serving 500 breakfasts and over 500 dinners everyday. It truly is a place for the migrants to come together.
