Na Keiki's Director, Phil Villatora is from a large Kaua'i family, and is the eighth of 16 children. Mr Villatora's lifetime commitment and passion for sharing Polynesian arts is evidenced by his long history of community involvement, starting Na Keiki in 2004 on his family's 10 acre farm in Wailua, and sharing Hawaiian and Polynesian cultural arts with island youth and visitors on the land. He hosted classes in drumming, nose flute, drum-making, dance, fire spinning and traditional and sustainable agriculture, before moving to the current facility in Kapaa in 2010. Phil worked for months, often on his own, renovating the current facility into the beautiful center it is today. Mr. Villatora has headed two successful businesses in the past, and has performed at Kilohana Plantation's Lu'au Kalamaku for over three years, and the Hilton prior. Phil is not only Director and founder of COTL, he is also instructor for Tahitian Drum, NoseFlute, Drum-making, Sustainable Living and Survival and heads up the summer program as well as drumming for many of the other classes such as Tahitian Dance and fireknife.
